We went last week to adopt a dog. The dog we originally wanted was not friendly with our dog. However, the staff was quick to recommend a VERY dog friendly dog for us. That's how we got sweet Rueger (Rue) our precious little Beagle mix. Not only were they knowledgeable about all of the dogs in their care, they were also such wonderful people who you can see truly care about these sweet babies. 10/10 will always recommend.

These people are kind, generous, knowledgeable and well informed about the needs of animals in this city. I'm so grateful for all the help they've given me. Because of the assistance that I received, there are six animals in my care at this time who are all sleeping comfortably. Thank you for being there and helping me take care of them while I am struggling to get back on my feet. I got 99 problems... but my pets ain't one. 😄

Super facilities, pro staff, and adoption support. When Blueberry escaped out a window screen and through a chain link fence, a staff member contacted me after recognizing the dog on a Facebook post after hours. Blueberry was returned home and secured within 40 minutes thanks to Shawna's thoughtfulness and commitment to the LHS mission. I don't have the words to describe how much I appreciate this organization, the humans that work there, and the humans that provide financial support. Don't stop being awesome LHS!

I havent adopted a pet from here as an adult yet, but their pet resource center took care of my two rescue kittens amazingly on their spay and neuter (opposite sex siblings), even doing a careful nail trim. It was cheap, reliable, and my kitties came home happy as can be.

My wife and I had a poor experience trying to adopt from this place. The staff we interacted with was rude, the room we were placed in to meet the dog was unsanitary, and both puppies we were interested in had poop on them. Additionally they only let us see the dogs for a couple of minutes before asking us to leave.

This place has given my family five of the best kitties in the world. They have recently renovated and it looks great. Adoption process was smooth, in and out. $165 for our new kitten, which included the spay/neuter and shots up until two months old.

It is a thorough process, expect to answer questions and be patient! With that said, everything here is smooth, friendly and courteous. Adopting a pet is a big take on and I appreciate the time they invest in matching people with their best fit. They were not overbearing or borderline invasive like some other places that make adopting so difficult, but they do care and take it serious. I'm the happy owner Huskado puppy thanks to these helpful folks!

Such great people! I am so grateful for their dedication and care. They are doing really important work to improve the live of homeless pets. It is SO important for the community to rescue instead of shop, and this is a great facility to do that... thank you again and again for doing this work.

My experience with this program originally I was in need for emergency care on my cat Blitz. The vet keeps blitz and upon no more options for treatment 😕 😪 asked if we want to put him down. With much sadness my family and I said our good byes one last time. But was given the option to pay for the ashes. I processed the forms I asked and confirmed I'd be getting my cat only and not everyone's ashes mixed. It's July 13 when we put blitz down, I have yetto get a Oconee call return about my ashes as a it's about to be jan 30 2024 I've called and no one calls back. We miss blitz and expected much more than this.

Another great adoption experience today. The team always does what's best for both the animals and the potential adopters. This is the 9th animal we've adopted from LHS, and every single one has worked out beautifully. Can't say enough positive things about this organization, from top to bottom they truly are the best.
